What Fishing Means to Me

Fishing was more than just a hobby to me. For me, fishing was a way to connect with my family through competition with my dad and grandpa or through working together to reel in a massive catch. When I was younger my grandparents used to own a large sixty-acre property that has a huge pond near the entrance. This pond held all kinds of fish, but the most prominent ones were catfish and bass. This pond is where I would spend a large amount of time with my grandpa, catching the bass to see how much larger they have grown. That time I spent fishing with him was one of my most enjoyable memories.

Every so often my dad and grandpa would plan out a fishing trip that the guys in my family would go on in the summer. These trips were always a blast, fishing in the deep blue ocean early in the morning. This is where the sunrise would be the brightest and its most spectacular. One of my most memerable momnets was when I went on a horseback fishing trip alongside Rock Island Lake in Montana.
